RACE REPORT – Stage 1 @TropicaleAmissaBongo –  The Team followed instructions today to do work on the front and assist in controlling the peloton. This earned @ProTouchZA the respect from the big pro teams.
@PieterSeyffert and @MitchEliot did a great job out front, for more than half the race alongside Team @Arkea_Samsic.
André Greipel and @BryceFellieu (both Tour de France stage winners) spent the day chatting to Piet, Mitch and Rohan du Plooy – provided some compliments and, sharing of their tactics in terms of when they would go hard etc. You cannot buy that opportunity from seasoned professionals like these.
Highlight of our day was when @AndreGreipel walked up to the Team at dinner and congratulated them on a great job, during the stage. A proud moment for us. And all part of the learning curve.
Rohan du Plooy had good legs in the final dash to the line and, we are super happy with the result of 7th – taking the field into account.
It was great to also hear the official radio partner  mentioning ProTouch on front with Akeana and Vital Concept, as well as Direct Energy.
Today, sees us doing the longest stage of the tour 169km from Franceville to Okondja. Stage starts at 11h00 SA time and expected to finish around 15:00.
We predict that @DirectEnergy will control the race and, a small early breakaway should be allowed to slip off the front, which will be brought back as the finish really suits the quick men today.
