Yesterday’s 2nd stage went according to plan – two riders in a breakaway Rohan du Plooy and @JaydeJulius both collecting Hot Spot and KOM points on the road. The rest of the Team in the chasing peloton. Rohan du Plooy finishing 14th today (8th on GC) – 18” behind the yellow jersey and, Songezo Jim – Athlete finishing in 37th on GC – 20” behind yellow.

Rohan in 4th and Jayde in 5th, both with 5 points in the KOM Competition and Jayde in 3rd, in the Sprinters Competition with 4 points.

We expected @ArkeaSamsic to bring the break back, which is exactly what happened. Reynard Butler – Athlete was in a good position in the sprint to the line, rubbing shoulders with André Greipel.

It was then, that we experienced our low as @ReynardButler hit the deck hard. His bike being dragged across the line without him by another rider.  See World Cycling Stats.

Hospital time again, lots of bumps and bruises. All x-rays came back good, hips, pelvis and shoulders. Helmet took a beating, thank goodness for the helmet. Reynard is ok and will be good to travel with us later today.

Today we look to score more points at HS and KOM and need @JaydeJulius and @MitchEliot in the break. We finish the stage on a drag today and hope to have Rohan save something for the finish.

The lessons continue and the guys are starting to understand and experience this higger level of racing. We race again today making sure we in the moves and continue earning respect and learning.

Unfortunately Reynard Butler – Athlete crashed 100m from finish line, nothing broken but the end of the tour for him. See World Cycling Stats.

Today is Stage 3 – 98km starting at 10:30 SA Time.
